Custom cable assembly
Samtec cable assemblies for dense boards.
Pecko builds custom cable assemblies on Samtec's micro-pitch connector systems, for board-to-board and board-to-panel links where space is tight and connections must survive vibration and repeated mating. Every build follows your drawing, from first prototypes to production.

Overview
What is a Samtec cable assembly?
A Samtec cable assembly is wire or cable terminated in connectors from Samtec, a maker known for high-speed board-to-board families such as SEARAY and Edge Rate. For cable work, Samtec offers discrete-wire systems such as Mini Mate, Micro Mate and Tiger Eye, whose crimp housings mate with matching headers on the board. Tiger Eye's multi-finger contacts are built for rugged, high-cycle use, which suits instruments, embedded computers and defense electronics.

- Mates with matching Samtec board headers
- Keyed housings with latching options
- Wired to your drawing and pinout
Features
Fine pitch without losing ruggedness
Samtec's cable connectors pack many circuits into very little board space. These are the traits we plan around when we turn them into finished assemblies.
-
Micro-pitch footprints
Small-pitch housings let a cable plug into crowded boards and compact modules, leaving room for the components around them.
-
Multi-finger contacts
Tiger Eye contacts meet their mate through several fingers, so the connection does not depend on a single point of contact.
-
Latches and screw-downs
Depending on the family, metal latches, locking clips or screw-downs keep connectors mated against vibration, shock and the pull of cable weight.
-
Fine-gauge wire
Slim wire in PVC or fluoropolymer insulation, matched to each contact's crimp range, keeps cables flexible and easy to route in tight spaces.
Capabilities
How we build Samtec assemblies
Micro-pitch work leaves little margin for error, so each step is controlled in our own factories and checked against your drawing.
Fine-wire processing
Fine-gauge wire cut and stripped on equipment set up for small conductors, so strands stay intact and each contact seats fully.
Matched crimp tooling
Crimping uses tooling suited to each Samtec system and wire size, with crimp height and pull-force checks set by your requirements.
Housing loading
Each contact placed in its cavity and fully seated, with latches, locking clips or screw hardware fitted where your design uses them.
Twisted and shielded pairs
Twisted pairs and shielded cable built in where your drawing calls for them, helping faster or noise-sensitive signals travel cleanly between boards.
Connector sourcing
Genuine Samtec housings and contacts sourced through our supply network, with approved equivalents used only when your drawing allows them.
Electrical testing
Continuity, shorts and pin-position checks, plus any further tests, run to the plan agreed in your quote.

Applications
Industries using Samtec assemblies
Samtec connectors appear wherever dense electronics must stay connected through vibration, handling and frequent servicing.
Test and measurement
Internal links between processor, acquisition and front-panel boards in instruments and data loggers.
Embedded computing
Cable links between single-board computers, I/O cards and expansion modules in compact systems.
Aerospace and defense
Rugged board and module wiring for avionics, communications and vehicle electronics, built to your specification.
Medical devices
Compact internal wiring for imaging, monitoring and diagnostic equipment where space is limited.
Industrial automation
Board-to-board and sensor links inside compact controllers, drives and machine-vision equipment.
Networking equipment
Front-panel, fan and management-board links inside switches, routers and network appliances.
Quality
Quality built into every connection
Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
Agree the specification
We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.
Prove the first article
A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.
Build to documented processes
Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.
Test before it ships
Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.
Which Samtec connector systems can you build with?
We build with Samtec discrete-wire systems such as Mini Mate, Micro Mate and Tiger Eye, along with other cable-side connectors named on your drawing. Send the part numbers, or describe the boards you need to connect, and our engineers will confirm a suitable housing, contact and wire combination.
Can one assembly combine Samtec and other connectors?
Yes. An assembly can carry a Samtec micro-pitch connector at the board end and a different connector at the other, such as a panel connector, terminal or splice. Our engineers review the drawing to confirm the wire gauge and current suit the contacts at both ends before we quote.
How do you inspect crimps at such a fine pitch?
Micro-pitch crimps are too small to judge by eye, so we inspect them under magnification. Crimp height and pull-force checks are sampled from each setup, to the limits in your drawing or the test plan agreed in your quote.
What do you need to quote a Samtec cable assembly?
A drawing with the Samtec part numbers, wire gauge and insulation, lengths, pinout and any twisting or labeling is ideal, along with your quantities at each stage of the program. If you only have a sample, send it and our engineers will document it as a drawing for your approval.
