Overview

What is an Anderson cable assembly?

An Anderson cable assembly is power cable terminated in connectors from Anderson Power Products, often called APP. Its best-known families are Powerpole, compact modular housings that slide together to build multi-pole connectors, and SB connectors, larger housings for battery and charger connections. Both are genderless, so two identical halves mate, and both use flat contacts that wipe against each other as they connect, helping keep the contact surfaces clean.

  • Genderless, identical mating halves
  • Color-coded housings for polarity and voltage
  • Heavy-gauge leads built to your drawing

Features

Features of Anderson power assemblies

High current leaves little room for error, because a poor crimp or loose contact turns into heat. These are the details each assembly is built around.

  • Genderless mating

Identical connector halves mate with each other, so one part number can serve both ends of a link and fewer parts need stocking.

  • Modular Powerpole housings

Powerpole housings slide together in rows and stacks, so one connector can combine several power and ground circuits in the layout your design needs.

  • Color-keyed housings

SB housings in different colors are keyed so they will not mate, which keeps batteries and chargers of different voltages apart.

  • Contacts sized to wire

Each contact accepts a set range of wire gauges, so conductor size, contact and crimp tooling are chosen together for every power circuit.

Capabilities

Our Anderson assembly capabilities

Power assemblies depend on crimps and conductors that stay cool under load, so we control every step in our own factories.

Heavy-gauge cable processing

Large power conductors cut, stripped and prepared without nicking strands, so the full cross-section carries current into the contact.

Power contact crimping

Contacts crimped with dies matched to each contact and wire size, then checked for crimp height and pull force against your requirements.

Housing assembly

Each contact seated and locked in its housing, Powerpole housings joined in the arrangement on your drawing, and accessories fitted where specified.

Battery and charger leads

Leads with an Anderson connector at one end and ring lugs or another connector at the other, with inline fuses added where specified.

Genuine APP parts

Genuine Anderson Power Products housings and contacts sourced through our supply network, or approved equivalents only when your drawing permits.

Polarity and continuity tests

Continuity, polarity and pin-position checks to the test plan agreed in your quote, with visual checks of every crimp and housing.

Why Pecko

Why OEMs choose Pecko

A manufacturing partner should make your program simpler. These are the reasons customers bring their assemblies to Pecko, and keep them here.

  • Expertise and experience

Wire harness and cable assembly work since 1981, across 20 industries and 25,000+ projects.

  • Quick turnarounds

Clear quotes, confirmed schedules and regular updates, from the first prototype to every production release.

  • High flexibility

Engineering changes, revisions and schedule shifts handled without starting your program over.

  • Cost-effectiveness

Design-for-manufacture advice, global sourcing and efficient processes keep your unit cost down.

  • Small and large volumes

From a handful of prototypes to high-volume production, with capacity across three factories.

  • Caring customer service

A team that answers technical questions quickly and follows your program from quote to delivery.

Applications

Where Anderson assemblies are used

Anderson connectors are a common choice wherever batteries, chargers and DC power have to be connected and disconnected often.

  • Material handling

Battery and charger connections for forklifts, pallet trucks and other electric warehouse vehicles.

  • Backup power

DC links and battery strings in UPS systems and telecom power cabinets.

  • Light electric vehicles

Power connections for golf carts, mobility scooters, utility vehicles and floor cleaning machines.

  • Solar and off-grid

Links between portable solar panels, charge controllers and battery banks in off-grid systems.

  • Mobile robots

Main power connections on mobile robots, where batteries are swapped and charged often.

  • Vehicle accessories

Winch, auxiliary battery and trailer power connections on service, utility and recreational vehicles.

Quality

Quality built into every connection

Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.

  1. Agree the specification

We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.

  2. Prove the first article

A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.

  3. Build to documented processes

Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.

  4. Test before it ships

Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.

Which Anderson Power Products connectors can you build with?

We build with Powerpole and SB connectors in the sizes your design calls for, and other Anderson Power Products parts named on your drawing. Send us the part numbers, or tell us the current, wire gauge and number of circuits, and our engineers will confirm suitable housings and contacts.

Do the housing colors on SB connectors matter?

Yes. SB housing colors are mechanically keyed, so different colors will not mate, and many systems use color to separate battery voltages. Tell us the color on your drawing or existing equipment, and we will match it so new leads mate with the connectors already in service.

Can you build battery leads with fuses and ring terminals?

Yes. A typical lead pairs an Anderson connector with ring terminals, lugs or another connector, and we can add inline fuse holders, heat-shrink, sleeving and labels. Tell us the current, run length and environment, and our engineers will review the wire gauge and parts with you.

How are Anderson cable assemblies tested?

Each order is tested to the plan agreed in your quote. Typical checks include continuity and polarity on every circuit, correct contact seating and housing color, crimp height and pull-force sampling, and visual inspection against your drawing before shipment.
