Overview
What is a Molex cable assembly?
Molex makes a wide range of wire-to-board and wire-to-wire connector families, and a Molex cable assembly is wire terminated in one or more of them. Fine-pitch series such as PicoBlade suit low-level signals in compact products, KK is a long-standing choice for general board connections, and Micro-Fit and Mini-Fit handle higher currents for power distribution. Matching family, terminal and wire gauge to each circuit is what makes the assembly dependable.
- Signal and power connector families
- Wire-to-board and wire-to-wire styles
- Positive latches and polarized housings
- Mixed families in one harness
Features
Features of Molex assemblies
Molex families differ in pitch, current rating and locking style. These are the traits we match to your circuit when we plan each build.
-
Power-rated families
Series such as Micro-Fit and Mini-Fit carry higher currents than fine-pitch signal connectors, making them a common choice for board and device power.
-
Fine-pitch signal options
Compact series like PicoBlade fit crowded boards, carrying sensor, display and control signals in very little space.
-
Latching and polarization
Many families add latches and polarized housings that keep connectors seated and stop them mating the wrong way.
-
Terminal position assurance
On families that offer it, a TPA retainer locks terminals fully into the housing, guarding against push-back during mating.
Capabilities
Our Molex assembly capabilities
A connector is only as reliable as the crimps behind it. We control every step, from wire prep to final test, in our own factories.
Wire cutting and stripping
Wire processed to the gauge, length and strip dimensions each Molex terminal calls for, from fine signal wire to heavier power conductors.
Terminal crimping
Terminals crimped with tooling matched to each family and wire size, with crimp height and pull force checked to your requirements.
Housing loading
Each terminal inserted into its correct cavity and locked in place, with TPA or CPA features engaged where the design uses them.
Multi-branch harnesses
Several Molex families, or Molex alongside other connectors, combined in one harness with branches, sleeving and labels laid out to your drawing.
Parts sourcing
Housings, terminals and wire sourced through our global and domestic supply channels, or from your approved vendor list when specified.
Testing to your plan
Continuity, polarity and pin-position checks, plus any other electrical tests set out in the test plan agreed in your quote.

Applications
Where Molex assemblies are used
With families for both signal and power, Molex connectors appear in a very wide range of electronic equipment.
Computing and servers
Internal power and signal leads for motherboards, drives, fans and power supplies.
Home appliances
Control-board and power wiring in washers, refrigerators, cooking equipment and HVAC units.
Industrial controls
I/O and power connections inside drives, controllers, sensors and operator panels.
Automotive
Wiring for body electronics, lighting modules and in-vehicle accessories and chargers.
Medical equipment
Signal and power harnesses for patient monitors, diagnostic instruments and lab analyzers.
LED lighting
Power and dimming leads connecting drivers to LED modules in commercial and architectural fixtures.
Quality
Quality built into every connection
Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
Agree the specification
We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.
Prove the first article
A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.
Build to documented processes
Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.
Test before it ships
Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.
Which Molex connector families can you build with?
Our work covers commonly specified Molex families such as Micro-Fit, Mini-Fit, PicoBlade and KK, and other series named on your drawing. Share the part numbers, or tell us the circuit count and current each line carries, and our engineers will recommend a suitable housing and terminal.
Can you combine Molex and other connectors in one harness?
Yes. Many harnesses mix a Molex power connector with signal connectors from other makers, or combine several Molex families. Send your drawing or a sample, and our engineers will review the connector choices and wiring before we quote.
How do you choose wire gauge for Molex power connectors?
Wire gauge depends on the current each circuit carries, the length of the run and the range the terminal accepts. If your drawing specifies the gauge, we build to it. If not, our engineers will review the load with you and suggest a gauge within the terminal's rated range.
How are Molex cable assemblies tested?
Each order is checked to the test plan agreed in your quote. Typical checks cover continuity, polarity and pin position, crimp height and pull-force sampling, and visual inspection of latches and housings against your drawing.
