Overview
What is a heavy-duty connector assembly?
A heavy-duty connector assembly is a cable terminated in rugged industrial connectors designed to withstand dust, moisture, vibration and repeated mating. Rectangular types use a metal or plastic hood and housing, locked with a lever or latch, around inserts that can mix power, signal and data contacts. Circular types carry power and signal contacts in a round shell with a threaded, bayonet or push-pull coupling. Both let machines be split into modules and reconnected quickly.
- Rectangular and circular connector styles
- Modular power, signal and data inserts
- Lever, latch or threaded locking
- Metal hoods and sealed cable entries
Features
What our connector assemblies deliver
Heavy-duty connectors have to carry heavy current, survive harsh sites and mate again and again. These are the points every assembly is built around.
-
Mixed modular inserts
Power, signal, data and even pneumatic modules combined in one housing, so a single connector replaces several separate plugs.
-
Positive mechanical locking
Single or double locking levers, latches and threaded couplings keep connectors mated under vibration and resist being pulled apart by accident.
-
Protective hoods and glands
Die-cast metal or high-strength plastic hoods with sealed cable glands protect contacts from dust, moisture and knocks in harsh settings.
-
Coding against mis-mating
Coding pins and keyed inserts stop similar connectors from being mated in the wrong place, a real risk on machines with many plugs.
Capabilities
Our heavy-duty assembly capabilities
We wire, assemble and test heavy-duty connector assemblies in our own factories, following your pinout, cable and mounting requirements.
Crimp, screw and clamp
Contacts crimped with matched tooling, or wired with screw and spring-clamp terminations where the insert is designed for them.
Heavy power wiring
Large-gauge power conductors stripped, terminated and dressed into inserts without strain on the contacts or insulation.
Modular insert configuration
Inserts and frames assembled in the arrangement your drawing specifies, with contact positions matched to your pinout.
Glands and sealing
Glands, seals and strain relief sized to the cable diameter, so the hood entry grips the jacket and keeps contaminants out.
Shielding and grounding
Braided shields bonded to EMC metal hoods or brought to a dedicated ground contact, as your grounding scheme requires.
Mating and pinout checks
Continuity, pin mapping, locking and coding checks, run to the test plan agreed in your quote before shipment.

Applications
Where heavy-duty connectors are used
Heavy-duty connectors earn their place where currents are high, conditions are harsh and equipment must come apart for service.
Industrial machinery
Modular machines split into sections for shipping, then reconnected on site with a few plugs.
Rail and transit
Connections on rolling stock and trackside equipment that face vibration, weather and regular maintenance.
Power distribution
Pluggable feeds between control cabinets, drives and temporary power setups, where equipment is often moved or serviced.
Robotic cells
Robot bases, welding cells and cell interfaces that combine power, signal and data in one plug.
Renewable energy
Wind turbines, solar inverters and battery storage systems, where vibration and temperature swings are routine.
Stage and events
Touring power, lighting and multicore connections that are plugged and unplugged at every show.
Quality
Quality built into every connection
Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
Agree the specification
We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.
Prove the first article
A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.
Build to documented processes
Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.
Test before it ships
Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.
Which heavy-duty connector families can you build with?
We build with rectangular heavy-duty connectors in standard housing sizes and modular inserts, and with circular industrial connectors, from widely used connector makers. Send the part numbers from your drawing, or describe the contacts, currents and environment, and we will confirm a suitable combination.
Can one connector carry both power and signal?
Yes. Modular rectangular connectors accept a mix of inserts in one frame, so power, signal, data and even compressed air can pass through a single connector. Tell us each circuit's current and signal type, and our engineers will help lay out the modules.
Can you build to a sealing or rail industry requirement?
Tell us the requirement your assembly must meet, such as a sealing rating or a rail fire-safety specification, and we will specify connectors, seals and cable to it, then build and test to your drawing and the plan agreed in your quote.
How do I choose between a rectangular and circular connector?
Rectangular connectors suit higher contact counts and mixed modules, and lever locks make mating quick in cabinets and machine frames. Circular connectors are compact and quick to couple, and are widely used for motors, sensors and field wiring. Our engineers can help you weigh the options against your drawing.
