Cable assembly services
Prototype cables that prove your design.
Pecko builds prototype cable assemblies and wire harnesses in small quantities, so you can test fit, routing and function before you commit to volume. Our engineers review your drawing, sketch or sample, and each revision is captured in the drawing you take into production.

Overview
What is prototype cable assembly?
Prototype cable assembly is the low-volume build of a new cable or harness, made with the connectors and wire you intend to use in production. Use it when a design is new or changing: to check that lengths, routing and pinouts are right in the real product, to supply units for testing and qualification, and to catch problems while changes are still cheap.
- Small quantities, built to order
- Drawing, sketch or sample accepted
- Engineering review before building
- Clear path to volume production
Features
What a prototype build gives you
A prototype run should answer questions about your design, not raise new ones. Here is what each build is meant to deliver.
-
Design review up front
Our engineers check your drawing for pinout errors, tight bend radii, hard-to-source parts and length issues before the first cable is cut.
-
Real fit, real routing
Physical samples let you route the cable through the actual enclosure or machine, confirming lengths, clearances and connector orientation.
-
Room to iterate
Revisions to length, pinout or components are made between builds, so each iteration moves closer to a design you can release.
-
Documentation for production
A drawing and bill of materials that reflect the approved sample, ready to carry straight into production without starting over.
Capabilities
Our prototype build capabilities
Prototypes are built in our own factories, from first samples to small pilot batches, working from whatever design data you have.
Design for manufacture
Suggestions on connectors, wire and routing that make the design easier to build consistently once volumes rise.
Sample reverse engineering
Existing cables measured and traced, with connectors identified and a drawing prepared for your approval before we build.
Part sourcing and alternates
When a specified connector is hard to find, we source it globally or propose an equivalent for your approval.
Full construction options
Crimped, soldered and IDC terminations, shielding, sleeving and labels, so samples match the construction you intend for production.
Revision control
Each change to pinout, length or parts recorded against a revision, so you always know which sample was tested.
Tested before shipping
Continuity, pinout and visual checks run to the test plan agreed in your quote, so samples arrive ready to evaluate.
Why Pecko
Why OEMs choose Pecko
A manufacturing partner should make your program simpler. These are the reasons customers bring their assemblies to Pecko, and keep them here.

Applications
When to order prototype cables
Prototype builds pay off at every point where a cable design is new, changing or unproven.
New product development
First cables for engineering builds, when the enclosure and board layout are still being finalized.
Design validation
Samples for electrical, environmental and mechanical testing before a design is released.
Pilot runs
Small batches that prove the build process and supply early units to customers or field trials.
Engineering changes
Updated cables to test a revised pinout, new connector or different length on existing products.
Legacy cable replacement
Reproducing an obsolete or undocumented cable from a sample when the original drawing is lost.
Research and startups
Custom cables for test rigs, lab instruments and research equipment at universities and startups.
Quality
Quality built into every connection
Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
Agree the specification
We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.
Prove the first article
A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.
Build to documented processes
Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.
Test before it ships
Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.
What do you need from me to quote a prototype?
A drawing is ideal, but a sketch, a CAD model or a sample cable is enough to start. Include the connectors, wire type, lengths and pinout if you know them, and our engineers will follow up on anything missing before we quote.
Can prototypes use the same parts as production?
That is usually the goal, so test results carry over to the production part. If a specified connector or cable is hard to get in small quantities, we will tell you before building and suggest an equivalent for your approval.
Can you move my prototype into volume production?
Yes. The approved prototype, its drawing and its bill of materials become the basis for production, built in our factories in Singapore, Malaysia or China. Keeping the same supplier from first sample to volume helps you avoid re-qualifying the design with a new manufacturer.
What if the design changes after the first prototypes?
Changes are expected at this stage. Send the updated drawing or mark up the sample, and we will revise the documentation, confirm any new parts and quote the next build, keeping each revision clearly identified.
