Custom cable assembly

Lemo cable assemblies, push to connect.

Pecko builds custom cable assemblies with Lemo push-pull connectors for medical, test and broadcast equipment: contacts soldered or crimped to your pinout, collets and bend reliefs sized to your cable, and each assembly tested to your drawing, from prototype to production.

Overview

What is a Lemo cable assembly?

A Lemo cable assembly is cable terminated in connectors from Lemo, the Swiss maker best known for push-pull self-latching circular connectors. Pushing the plug in locks it automatically, and only pulling the outer release sleeve frees it, so a tug on the cable will not disconnect it. The B series is the widely used standard range, the K series is a sealed version for wet or harsh settings, and inserts can carry signal, power and coaxial contacts.

  • Push-pull self-latching coupling
  • Keyed to prevent mis-mating
  • Signal, power and coaxial contacts
  • Metal shells that carry the cable shield

Features

Features of Lemo cable assemblies

Lemo connectors are chosen where a connection is made often, in tight spaces, by people who need it to be quick and certain.

  • Push-pull latching

Plugs latch as soon as they are pushed home and release only from the outer sleeve, so connections are quick to make in cramped spaces.

  • Keying and color coding

Alignment keys and keying options stop similar connectors being mated in the wrong place, while colored bend reliefs tell cables apart at a glance.

  • Mixed contact inserts

Inserts can combine low-level signal, power, coaxial and other contact types in one compact shell, reducing the number of cables to a device.

  • Shielded metal shells

Metal shells and collets let the cable shield be bonded around its full circumference, helping protect low-level signals from interference.

Capabilities

Our Lemo assembly capabilities

Lemo plugs are small and precise, so each one is hand-assembled at the bench in our own factories, following your drawing.

Contact termination

Conductors soldered or crimped into contacts to your pinout, with heat-shrink over each solder cup to keep closely spaced contacts insulated.

Collet and shield work

Cable collets matched to the jacket diameter, with the braid dressed and clamped so the shield bonds to the connector shell.

Coaxial and mixed inserts

Coaxial cable stripped to precise dimensions for coaxial contacts, and mixed inserts wired so each signal, power and coax line reaches its position.

Bend reliefs and labels

Colored bend reliefs fitted to suit the cable diameter, plus printed labels or markers that identify each lead on the equipment.

Genuine Lemo parts

Genuine Lemo connectors and contacts sourced through our supply network, with approved equivalents only where your drawing allows them.

Inspection and testing

Continuity, pinout and short-circuit checks to the test plan agreed in your quote, with visual inspection of solder joints before the shell is closed.

Why Pecko

Why OEMs choose Pecko

A manufacturing partner should make your program simpler. These are the reasons customers bring their assemblies to Pecko, and keep them here.

  • Expertise and experience

Wire harness and cable assembly work since 1981, across 20 industries and 25,000+ projects.

  • Quick turnarounds

Clear quotes, confirmed schedules and regular updates, from the first prototype to every production release.

  • High flexibility

Engineering changes, revisions and schedule shifts handled without starting your program over.

  • Cost-effectiveness

Design-for-manufacture advice, global sourcing and efficient processes keep your unit cost down.

  • Small and large volumes

From a handful of prototypes to high-volume production, with capacity across three factories.

  • Caring customer service

A team that answers technical questions quickly and follows your program from quote to delivery.

Applications

Where Lemo assemblies are used

Lemo connectors appear wherever equipment is plugged and unplugged often and a loose connection is not an option.

  • Medical devices

Patient cables, probes and handpieces that connect to monitors and consoles many times a day.

  • Test and measurement

Sensor and probe leads for data acquisition systems, laboratory instruments and portable test gear.

  • Broadcast and film

Camera power, audio and control cables for studio cameras, cinema rigs and outside broadcast units.

  • Research laboratories

Signal and high-voltage connections for detectors and instruments in physics and research labs.

  • Industrial controls

Locking connections on handheld controllers, measuring heads and automation equipment in tight spaces.

  • Robotics

Compact tool and sensor connections on robot arms and end effectors that must be swapped quickly.

Quality

Quality built into every connection

Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.

  1. Agree the specification

We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.

  2. Prove the first article

A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.

  3. Build to documented processes

Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.

  4. Test before it ships

Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.

Which Lemo connector series can you build with?

We build with commonly specified Lemo series such as the B and K series, and other Lemo connectors named on your drawing. Send us the full part numbers for the plug, socket and contacts, or describe the connection you need, and our engineers will help confirm the shell size, insert and collet.

Why does the cable diameter matter for a Lemo plug?

Each Lemo plug uses a collet sized to a range of cable diameters, and that collet grips the jacket and often the shield. If the cable is too thin or too thick, strain relief and shielding suffer, so we confirm the cable diameter against the plug part number before building.

Can you match an existing Lemo cable or build a new design?

Both. Send us a sample, photos of the connector markings or your drawing, and our engineers will document the pinout, cable and lengths for your approval. For new designs, they can review contact layout and cable choice with you before the first prototype is built.

How are Lemo cable assemblies tested?

Each order is tested to the plan agreed in your quote. Typical checks include continuity, pinout and shorts between adjacent contacts, shield continuity to the shell, correct keying and latching, and visual inspection of solder joints before the plug is closed.
