Overview
What is a Neutrik cable assembly?
A Neutrik cable assembly is cable terminated in Neutrik connectors, a familiar sight on stages, in studios and in broadcast trucks. The range includes XLR connectors for balanced audio and DMX lighting control, speakON connectors for loudspeakers, powerCON locking power connectors, and etherCON, which puts an RJ45 network connection in a rugged, latching shell. Each of these locks in place when mated, so a cable cannot be pulled out by accident.
- XLR, speakON, powerCON and etherCON families
- Locking connections that resist pull-outs
- Audio, lighting control, power and data
- Assembled and tested to your drawing
Features
Features of Neutrik cable assemblies
Pro audio cables are plugged, unplugged, coiled and stepped on night after night. These are the details we get right so they keep working.
-
Locking, rugged shells
XLR latches, the twist-lock action of speakON and powerCON, and etherCON's latching shell keep connections mated when cables are tugged or stepped on.
-
Cable matched to signal
Balanced microphone lines use twisted, shielded pairs, and DMX and network runs use data cable of the correct impedance rather than microphone cable.
-
Firm strain relief
Clamps inside the connector shell grip the cable jacket, so a pull on the cable loads the jacket, not the soldered or crimped contacts.
-
Color coding and labels
Colored boots, rings and printed labels identify cable runs and channels quickly, which matters when a stage is set up against the clock.
Capabilities
How we build Neutrik cables
Neutrik series terminate by solder, screw or crimp, so we set up each build in our own factories around the parts on your drawing.
Audio and DMX cables
Microphone, line and DMX cables soldered into XLR connectors, with shield and shell connections made to your drawing.
Loudspeaker leads
Heavy-gauge speaker cable terminated in speakON connectors, with each contact pair assigned to the amplifier channels your system uses.
Power cords and links
Locking power cords and link cables built with powerCON connectors, using the conductor size, jacket and length on your drawing.
Rugged network cables
Shielded or unshielded network cable terminated with RJ45 plugs and fitted in etherCON shells, then checked for correct pair order.
Multicores and breakouts
Multi-pair audio cable split into labeled breakout legs, each terminated in XLR connectors in the channel order on your drawing.
Genuine Neutrik parts
Genuine Neutrik connectors sourced through our supply network, with approved equivalents fitted only where your drawing allows them.

Applications
Where Neutrik assemblies are used
Neutrik connectors show up wherever sound, light, power and data have to be plugged in quickly and reliably.
Live sound
Microphone, speaker and amplifier cables for touring systems set up and taken down at every show.
Broadcast
Audio, intercom and network links in studios, control rooms and outside broadcast vehicles.
Stage lighting
DMX control and powerCON power links running between lighting desks, dimmers and fixtures.
LED video walls
Power and data jumpers daisy-chaining LED panels, often with powerCON and etherCON connectors.
Installed AV
Wiring for conference rooms, houses of worship, theaters and other permanent sound systems.
Industrial equipment
Rugged power and network connections on machines, test rigs and outdoor equipment that need locking connectors.
Quality
Quality built into every connection
Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
Agree the specification
We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.
Prove the first article
A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.
Build to documented processes
Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.
Test before it ships
Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.
Which Neutrik connectors can you build with?
We build with Neutrik XLR connectors, speakON, powerCON and etherCON, along with other Neutrik series named on your drawing. Send us the part numbers, or describe the signals, power and cable lengths, and our engineers will confirm suitable connectors and cable.
Can you use microphone cable for DMX lighting runs?
We advise against it. DMX is a data signal and needs cable of the correct impedance, while microphone cable is built for audio and can cause data errors on longer runs. We build DMX cables with suitable data cable and the 5-pin or 3-pin XLR connectors your fixtures use.
Will a standard RJ45 cable plug into an etherCON receptacle?
Yes. Standard RJ45 patch cables plug into etherCON chassis connectors. An etherCON cable connector adds a rugged shell and a positive latch around the RJ45 plug, protecting the connection where cables are walked on and pulled, and we build both types to your drawing.
How are Neutrik cable assemblies tested?
Each order is tested to the plan agreed in your quote. Typical checks include continuity, pin order and shorts, shield and shell connections, pair order on network cables, strain relief tightness and visual inspection of solder joints and terminations against your drawing.
