Custom cable assembly

Omron cable assemblies, sensor to controller.

Pecko builds custom cable assemblies around Omron connectors: M8 and M12 cables for sensors and actuators, flat-cable I/O links between controllers and terminal blocks, and flexible flat cables sized to Omron FPC connectors, all built and tested to your drawing.

Overview

What is an Omron cable assembly?

An Omron cable assembly is wire or flat cable terminated in Omron connectors. The range includes board-mounted FPC connectors that clamp flexible flat cables inside displays and compact devices, round M8 and M12 connectors that link sensors and actuators to controllers, and flat-cable IDC connectors that carry many I/O signals between PLC modules and terminal block units in a control panel.

  • M8 and M12 sensor I/O connections
  • Flat-cable links for PLC I/O
  • FPC connections inside compact devices
  • Wired and tested to your drawing

Features

Features of Omron cable assemblies

Omron connectors serve very different jobs, from a sensor on a machine frame to a display inside a handheld device. These are the details each assembly depends on.

  • Sealed sensor connections

Round M8 and M12 sensor connectors lock with a coupling ring and seal once mated, keeping dust, oil and coolant away from the contacts.

  • High-density I/O wiring

Flat-cable IDC connectors terminate every conductor of a ribbon cable in one pressing, carrying many I/O signals between a PLC module and its terminal blocks.

  • FPC connector matching

Flexible flat cables are specified to the pitch, contact count, thickness and contact side of the FPC connector, so each cable seats and locks correctly.

  • Keyed, one-way mating

Polarizing keys on flat-cable connectors and keyways on round sensor connectors let each plug mate only one way, even in crowded control panels.

Capabilities

How we build Omron assemblies

From a single sensor lead to a panel full of I/O cables, every step runs in our own factories, to your drawing.

Sensor cable building

M8 and M12 connectors terminated onto cable cut to your length, with the coding and pinout your sensors and I/O modules expect.

Flat-cable IDC termination

Ribbon cable pressed into flat-cable IDC connectors with controlled tooling, then checked for full seating, strain relief and correct pin-one orientation.

Breakout I/O cables

Multi-conductor cable terminated in controller connectors at one end and ferruled, labeled leads at the other, ready to land on terminal blocks.

Machine harnesses

Sensor, I/O and power branches combined in one harness, mixing Omron and other connectors, with sleeving and printed labels on every branch.

Connector sourcing

Genuine Omron connectors sourced through our supply network, with approved equivalents used only where your drawing allows them.

Electrical testing

Continuity, pin-order and short-circuit checks run to the test plan agreed in your quote, with visual inspection against your drawing.

Why Pecko

Why OEMs choose Pecko

A manufacturing partner should make your program simpler. These are the reasons customers bring their assemblies to Pecko, and keep them here.

  • Expertise and experience

Wire harness and cable assembly work since 1981, across 20 industries and 25,000+ projects.

  • Quick turnarounds

Clear quotes, confirmed schedules and regular updates, from the first prototype to every production release.

  • High flexibility

Engineering changes, revisions and schedule shifts handled without starting your program over.

  • Cost-effectiveness

Design-for-manufacture advice, global sourcing and efficient processes keep your unit cost down.

  • Small and large volumes

From a handful of prototypes to high-volume production, with capacity across three factories.

  • Caring customer service

A team that answers technical questions quickly and follows your program from quote to delivery.

Applications

Where Omron assemblies are used

Omron connectors sit wherever sensors, controllers and compact electronics meet, from factory floors to the devices people hold.

  • Factory automation

Proximity and photoelectric sensor cables running from fixtures and machine frames back to I/O modules.

  • Control panels

Flat-cable links between PLC I/O units, relay boards and terminal block conversion units.

  • Packaging machinery

Sensor and actuator wiring on filling, labeling and wrapping lines, where machines are cleaned often.

  • Robotic cells

Gripper, tool and end-of-arm sensor connections that have to survive constant motion.

  • Displays and instruments

FPC links to displays, keypads and small boards inside handheld meters and operator panels.

  • Logistics systems

Cables for sensors on sorters, conveyors and automated storage systems that track parcels and totes.

Quality

Quality built into every connection

Quality is designed into the process rather than inspected in at the end. Every program follows the same four steps, in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.

  1. Agree the specification

We review your drawing, materials and acceptance criteria with you before anything is built.

  2. Prove the first article

A prototype or first article confirms fit, form and function before production starts.

  3. Build to documented processes

Production follows documented work instructions at every step, from cutting to final assembly.

  4. Test before it ships

Every order is tested against the plan agreed in your quote before it leaves the factory.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Can't find your answer? Send us your drawing and questions, and our engineers will come back to you.

Which Omron connectors can you build with?

We build with Omron's round M8 and M12 sensor connectors, its flat-cable IDC connectors and flexible flat cables that mate with its FPC connectors, along with other series named on your drawing. Send us the part numbers, or describe the connection, and our engineers will confirm a suitable connector and cable.

Why choose a custom assembly over a standard sensor cable?

Standard sensor cables come in set lengths and pinouts. A custom assembly can be cut to the exact run, combine several sensors into one harness, add labels at both ends or use a cable jacket suited to oil, flexing or weld spatter on your machine.

How do you make sure a sensor cable matches the I/O module?

M12 connectors come in several codings and pin counts, and devices do not always share the same pin assignment. We wire to the pinout on your drawing, and if anything is unclear, our engineers check it against the device datasheets with you before building.

How are Omron cable assemblies tested?

Each order is tested to the plan agreed in your quote. Typical checks include continuity, pin order and short circuits, correct coding and orientation of each connector, full seating of IDC connectors and visual inspection against your drawing before shipment.
